Farewell Dear Yuki...

So a lady came today to buy Yuki. HE BIT HER!! His mouth was like 180 degrees openn! She bought him anyway, and it is for her students in her biology class. Peter was sad, and so was I. Kent didn't really mind though. Bye bye, dear Yuki.

Talk Follow-up

My talk went very well, although I talked VERY fast, and didn't look up. That is good though, for my first talk right?

TALK!

I have a talk today and I'm not that scared. I hope it goes well! It is about the blessings that come when we serve unselfishly within our families and toward others. Here it is:

Good morning. I was asked to speak on what blessings come when we act unselfishly within our families and toward others. First, I had to identify what unselfishness was. Unselfishness is taking others into consideration before yourself. When I think of unselfishness, I think of service. Some people think of service as doing something for someone else, but really only in the interest of yourself. That is called enlightened self-interest. For example, you could think that you are doing service by raking somebody’s yard, but you just want your neighborhood to look better, and you property value to go up.
Although selfless service is taking others into consideration, you also receive blessings for being unselfish. Elder Russell C. Taylor remembers a woman who had crippling arthritis in her hands, but every week went to type in names at the genealogy center in Denver. Even though she had arthritis, she was able to type in names efficiently and quickly, which was a blessing of unselfish service.
One of the examples of unselfishness is the Good Samaritan found in Luke 10. The story goes that a man was robbed by thieves and left half dead on the side of the road. A priest, and a Levite both noticed, but walked around him. Along came a Samaritan who took him in and left him to heal at an inn, giving the keeper some money to pay for the expenses. The blessings that he received were the joy of doing something good for someone else in need.
Elder Robert K. Dellenbach said that if we are caring, if we are charitable, if we are obedient to God and follow His prophets, our sacrifices will bring forth the blessings of heaven. Joseph Smith’s life was an example of unselfish sacrifice for the gospel of Jesus Christ. Though the Prophet Joseph suffered greatly, he remained optimistic and overcame many persecutions.
Unselfish acts of service may include: bringing food to the sick, teaching someone a skill, or taking care of children.
The pioneers were good examples of unselfishness. Elder Dallin H. Oaks said: “We praise what the pioneers’ unselfishness and sacrifice have done for us, but that is not enough. We should also assure that these same qualities are guiding principles for each of us.”
Kindness, love, patience, and understanding will grow as you serve unselfishly. Also, jealousy, envy, and greed will decrease or disappear. You will also be cheerful, kind, and full of peace. In addition, those who serve unselfishly will have a better understanding of the personality and attributes of God, and always seek to please Him. Unselfishness helps us to forget our personal desires, pride, and ingratitude. People who are unselfish are not easily discouraged, fatigued, or frustrated because they have the promise of peace in their mind, and the companionship of the Holy Ghost who will never leave them. They will also want to do more good for others.
Jesus Christ is the perfect example of unselfishness. He performed miracles and other services and expected no reward. Examples being healing the 10 lepers, making the blind see, and the lame walk. He also died on the cross and bled in the Garden of Gethsemane. Sometimes you don’t receive a reward, except the joy of doing something for someone else.
Even if we don’t get a reward, we can still act unselfishly towards others and in our families. In the name of Jesus Christ, amen.

Remarkable! Just remarkable.

Ok, one detail that I forgot yesterday....At the young men's basketball game, Kent made a goal with his forehead!! Peter R. passed him the ball, but he didn't catch it. It rebounded off of his forehead, bounced off the backboard and went in! Kent said that he was out of it, and wondering where the ball was when everyone started cheering!! It counted!

This Week

Ok, starting on Sunday. I got stuck with a talk which is going to be said in church tomorrow (February 28th). That is all that was very eventful.

Monday, we were playing hockey in P.E. I took 3 shots, and made them all, and there were only 3 points scored-by meee! Hockey is fun!

Tuesday, we got our interims back. All A's as usual. I got 100 something in business and marketing, 98 in P.E, 99 in band, 97 in Social Studies, 99 in Science, 94 in Language arts, although she is changing something to a 100, and going to bring my average up, and 100% in MATH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! hooray! And, I got 100 on a selection test, and 97 on a vocab test, although that is the one she is changing to 100 because her answer key was wrong, and I got the question correct. Also, in gym, we had to run the straights and walk the curves for cardio. I finished a mile with Taylor B.

Wednesday, I got another goal in hockey!! After school, we had New Beginnings in Young Womans. The theme was the olympics, since they are happening right now. I represented virtue, with a gold scarf. We each had a person that we had to show how they had the value that we have. I had Mary, the mother of Jesus and how she showed virtue. Whoever was talking, they held the torch, which looked really cool. Then, each of the Young Women leaders over the beehives, miamaids, and lourals, and we each had some way that we showed the right, and got a 'gold medal' that said said Be Strong and of a Good Courage. It was very pretty looking, but not gold, but had pretty scrapbook paper and stickers on there. Afterwards, we had basketball, and then went home.

Thursday, nothing really happened. After school was MSMD (Middle School Math Day practice) and Mrs. Streuli took me home. I had to study for a math quiz.

Friday I got my science test back and got 100%!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After school, I had mentor, and started something new in my book. It was cool. Then we watched the olympics until I had to go to bed.

Today, I had to wake up early for Middle School Math Day, and first we went and took the written test. We had an hour and a half to do it, and if you got a question right, you got 5pts, leave one blank is 1pt, and if you get it wrong, you got 0pts. After that, we had pizza and oreos for lunch, and I had a Hawaiian Punch soda. Then we did ciphering, which i got 2/4 questions right. Then we had the award ceremony, and I didn't get anything, although Lincoln didn't win everything!! One Kernodle 6th grader got first!!!!!!!!!! Everyone was cheering for him because Lincoln got basically everything, even if they weren't for Kernodle. Mommy took me home, and we picked up the boys from their basketball game (which they won) and also took them home. I'm skipping my basketball game, since my mind is pooped, and helped make Sister Haliburten's twin boys' blankets for her baby shower, which is at 7.

You are up to date!!

Yesterday to Today!! (:

Yesterday I woke up at 6:45am, and ate mini wheats. They were delicious!! Ok, anyway, I got ready for school and then went to mathcounts. I had a health test, but it was open notes and easy. I also had a math quiz, and it was good. I got a 90% on my science quiz. Ok, then after school, I had the percussion mentoring. Reid Hix was there, and so was another kid who was waiting for a mentor. Nobody came for him, so John Maness taught him. I finished the piece we were working on the week before, and started a new one. We took a picture of the bunny in a cage looking locker!! It was sooo funny!

Anyway, after that, me, my mom, and the Jarvis girls had a girls' night at the Jarvis' house. We watched Pride and Prejudice, both movies, had snacks and Chinese food. In my fortune cookie, it said something good will happen on Tuesday!! I wonder what it is! Kelly wanted to play with my hair (since it's sooo long) and she turned out curling it. It was really cool! The movies were long, but I was into it the whole time, until I started getting tired at the end. They were GOOD! My mom left after the movies were done, since I was sleeping over, and to sort of lull Sophie and I to sleep, we popped in Just My Luck. It was good! Captain Kirk, and the mother of the girl who turns into the blueberry in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, with the weird eyes was in there too. After that, we had the idea to write down everything that we think about that we need to remember as we go to sleep, since you forget them in the morning. It was cool

The next day, or today, we woke up at 8-8:30am, and went upstairs. Kelly came in and started coloring and playing with a big, green bouncy ball, and was HYPER! We had DELICIOUS chocolate pancakes made by sister Jarvis. We played Rock Band until 11, when I had to go. I came and left in my PJ's!! haha(:

Now for today, since I AM up to date.

Ok, today I woke up late, and found that the boys DID NOT go and get more cereal from downstairs. There was also only ONE packet left in the oatmeal box, and I did NOT feel like going downstairs. I just ate that and the leftovers from my Valentine's Day chocolate. I took my new binder (which doesn't have duct tape on it) and my book bag to school, since I woke up so late. At school, I saw Emmy in the gym, and then had to go to my locker and Business and Marketing. Mrs. McKinney is sooo nice! I finished my Curriculum Viewer early and my Journal #2 and I got to play on a cool website, where I acted like I did knee surgery. I went to health, (I'm in coach Bell's class) and took notes, as well as passed notes to Taylor, about a party I wanted to have....After that, I went to band with Mr. Tysor, and took a playing test, and thought I did pretty well. In Social Studies, we studied Central Africa for the whole period with Mrs. Upchurch. I then went to Language Arts with Mrs. Surratt. We did grammar, and talked about the project that we have to do that is due on Friday. We have to make a board game, with our group about our book, and I made some clay camels (since that is the way they travel) for the game pieces. We were talking about the questions to use in the game. After that, I got my math test back, and I got a 96%! I was soo happy. I only had a bit of homework, and since we finished early in class, we got to start on our homework, and I finished. When I looked for the bus, it wasn't there. After all the other buses left, I called Daddy with Leah's phone, who lives up the street, and hung out with Emmy, Taylor, and Leah before they all left. I was really bored when I was waiting for my dad, but as he came, the bus just got there! I still left with him. I just had a little bit of homework, which was making 10 questions for the game in Language Arts. We had REALLY good ravioli that was stuffed with spinach!!

Ok, this is off-topic, but yesterday, Kent stole Kelly's bunny slipper (Kent is going out with Kelly) and since they did the forking, we took pictures of the slipper everywhere, like McDonald's and at a park, and at their house. We printed out a Mad Gab, saying that we have it, and we need to negotiate a ransom demand or something. They also left tape at our house, from when they were forking, so Kent is going to tape the ransom note with a picture on their door with their tape, and leave the tape hanging, and ring the doorbell and run. I hope we will watch another movie!! (:

Woke up to the smell of bacon...

Woke up to the smell of bacon... it was Valentine's Day. I had a shower, and went downstairs to a breakfast consisting of hash browns, bacon, eggs, and french toast. At my spot at the table, there was a multi-colored pen, as well as a bag of chocolate goodies, and a necklace with a heart-shaped bell on it. I ate, and it was delicious!! We went to church, and after sacrament meeting and after sunday school, before young woman's, Abreha and I drew HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY on the board in the young woman's room. Too bad we were in the Relief Society room that day. It was really pretty. We got home to find that our house was FORKED, and some people *wink wink* drew on our drive way. We came to our front door, and on there was Wig A Choo (we got you, from Mad Gab), looking like it was shot with a dart, that we obviously forgot at their house. Underneath that, since we forgot two pizzas at their house the day before, the pizzas were in there, another pizza that they put in there, and lemonade packet thingy, and also three more of our nerf bullets. We knew who it was (the Jarvis') since we play Mad Gab with them. On each of the forks that they put in our yard, there was a piece of paper shaped like a heart, and had Mad Gab words on there. It was AWESOME! To end the day, we watched Hancock, and it was really good, although we had to stop it right when he got in the hospital! Yesterday and Valentine's day was AMAZING!

SATURDAY February 13th, 2010....YEAH!

Sooo, we woke up at like 8am, and toasted eggo waffles. They were goood. We then got dressed to go to the circus. We left and Shelby bought cotton candy, and I bought Kettle Corn for us to share. We met her mom at the seats. They were HH 8-14. They were really good seats. Everyone came out onto the stage/field thing, and it was cool. They had the 6 motorcycles in the metal ball, and the amazing trapeze people. They also had tightrope people, and the ELEPHANTS. Also, there were gymnastic people, and the crazy-flexible asian girls, and a motorcyle with a girl connected to the bottom of it on a tight rope. They started spinning too!! She was also standing up! During the intermission, I wanted a boom-a-ring, and it was $10. I only had $8. They bought it for me...They are wwwwwaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyyyyy too nice! Afterwards, they asked me if I was going to get a t-shirt, what color, and I said pink. They said that they were going to buy me one!!! It was sooo cute, and I refused to tell them my size, but Shelby said to just get me a medium. We got me the same one. It was $25 and I was like "Nooooooooooooooo-you are tooo nice!" We went to Yum Yum's for lunch, which I have never been to, and got a chili dog, and strawberry ice cream. I snuck the rest of my money in their car before I got out. My mom said that I had to tell her that I left it there, but I knew that she would try to give it back if I did. Shelby says that she will give the money back to me without me knowing....creepy.

Thanks Shelby!!!!!!!! I looove youuu! <3

February 12th (Friday)

On Friday, I had a HUGE test in math, and a test in health. And after school I had percussion tutoring. Since only 2 people were there, we had to tag team, or 2 on one. I had Reid Hix, who was originally my tutor, and John Maness. Reid basically took over, and we got a lot done.

But that isn't what I want to talk about....I want to talk about the SLEEPOVER THAT SHELBY AND I HAD AT HER HOUSE before we went to the circus. So, I went over to here house at like 9:30pm, and went to her room. We wanted to pop popcorn, and the first we burnt. The second was Kettle Corn, and it was really good, and Shelby said there was another one, that was better, and gave the other to her dad. We popped another, and it was BUTTER!! "Oh well", she says. I guess that was what we were going to eat. We went to her room with the popcorn and some chocolate chips, got changed into our PJ's, and got on the computer. We got on facebook and then watched and listened to this REALLY stupid video on youtube, called the Drivethru, or something by Weird Al Yankovic or however you spell it. It was 11minutes and 3 seconds long. WE WATCHED THE WHOLE THING. We were very bored. Shelby is writing a book, and so we were getting ready for bed, and I started reading her book. It was gooooooood. We then went to sleep at midnight to one o'clock in the morning....
